September 28, 2016

These past few weeks in Kindergarten have flown by!  Thank you to the families that came to curriculum night! It was great to see you take an interest in your child's education!
The past several weeks, we have read books about what a scientist is and what types of things they do.  We learned that scientists explore, observe, predict, record and solve.  We will be acting as scientists this year! We read stories about the seasons (specifically summer) and made an anchor chart about what summer is.  We have been learning many new sounds!  So far, we have learned: s, a, t, i, p, n, ck, e, h, r, m,  and d.  Think of all the words we can read and write!! Each day, we have been practicing writing the sounds we hear, as well as reading them.
In writer's workshop, we have been learning how to draw by doing many directed drawings.  We have learned that drawing is just using many shapes! In the past several days, we have been adding words to go along with our drawings.  We have even written a sentence!
